Kids love the variety of activities
My daughter has been obsessed with this since Christmas. The blacklight feature is such a fun bonus alongside the microscope, and she loves hatching the brine shrimp. Great value for the price.

The National Geographic 3-in-1 Microscope and Blacklight STEM Kit brings genuine laboratory-style exploration into the home by combining three distinct discovery tools into a single, thoughtfully designed package. At its core is a real optical microscope capable of meaningful magnification levels suitable for examining everything from fabric fibers and insect wings to salt crystals and plant cells. Alongside the microscope, the kit includes a built-in blacklight feature that lets curious minds explore fluorescence and glow-in-the-dark reactions, revealing a side of everyday objects that's invisible under normal light. Rounding out the trio is a set of specimen tools and slides that transform the kitchen table, backyard, or bedroom into an ongoing science lab, encouraging kids to constantly seek out new things to examine and understand.
Designed with young scientists in mind, the kit strikes a careful balance between educational rigor and approachable, screen-free fun. The microscope itself is sturdy and easy to operate, with simple focus adjustments and a stable base that make it accessible even for children who have never used one before. Included prepared slides, blank slides, specimen collection tools, and an instructional guide give kids a structured starting point, while still leaving plenty of room for open-ended exploration of their own found objects—leaves, feathers, hair, or coins. The blacklight component adds an extra layer of intrigue, turning ordinary materials like certain minerals, laundry detergent residue, or even teeth into glowing curiosities, which helps sustain engagement well beyond a single afternoon.
Bearing the National Geographic name, the kit carries an implicit promise of quality, wonder, and real scientific value, making it a natural fit for classrooms, homeschool science units, gifting occasions, or simply feeding a child's natural curiosity about the world. It's built for hands-on learners who enjoy touching, observing, and asking questions rather than passively consuming information, and it rewards patience and attention to detail with genuine "aha" moments. Compact enough to store easily yet substantial enough to feel like a real instrument rather than a toy, this 3-in-1 kit serves as an inviting entry point into biology, chemistry, and physics concepts, laying a foundation of scientific curiosity that can grow alongside the child using it.

Good starter kit for my son who's getting into science. The microscope itself is basic but functional, and having the blacklight included was a nice surprise. Wish the highest magnification was clearer.
It's okay for the price but the focus knob is frustrating to use and the images get blurry pretty fast at higher zoom. My kids still enjoy it but I expected slightly better quality.
Bought this as a holiday gift for my nephew and he was thrilled. The 3-in-1 concept works well for keeping kids engaged with different types of exploration. Highly recommend for the age group.
